Dear Aunty Lisa,
We get divorced, more and more, for truly the minutest reasons. This is what I thought when a friend narrated the story of a 27-year-old woman who separated from her husband after being married for less than a year. My immediate concern wasn’t why it happened, just why this generation even bothers with this marriage business at all. (We might as well just catch feelings all day and party all night.)
But when the reason for the couple’s separation came out – the lack of intimacy in the relationship for the duration of the marriage – I couldn’t help but feel judgmental. And really, really curious at the same time. Is it okay to leave your husband because he can’t get it up? I couldn’t help but wonder.
I didn’t have the answers; I still don’t. So I thought it might be good to ask a few levelheaded people here.
