I want to propose to my girlfriend. We’ve been going out for four years and are very happy.
I’ve no doubts she will say yes, my problem is that she’s very fussy when it comes to gifts so I don’t trust myself to buy a ring. If it’s the wrong kind, there will be hell to pay.
I love her a lot, but she is a spoiled brat if she gets a present she doesn’t like. I’ve chosen many gifts in the years I’ve known her and pretty much all of them have been rejected and taken back to the shop.
How can I ensure my proposal goes to plan and isn’t ruined by offering her a bad ring? Help!

Yep, she does sound like a bit of a madam, but at least you know what you’re dealing with.
Plan A: take her on an incredibly romantic date and give her a Haribo ring for the proposal – along with a handwritten invitation to choose the ring herself.
Plan B: Why not get advice from her best mate or her mum? Maybe they can guide you as to her likes and dislikes.
She sounds like the sort who would have shared this information already.
It’s very sweet that you’re putting a lot of thought into it, but maybe you’re worrying too much.
I’m sure she’ll be delighted to marry you and if the ring you choose turns out to be a dud, it’s a good story to tell in the future.
And you can always exchange it for another. Hope it goes well!
